The sea is so different: either azure and meek, then raging and almost black. It gives joy and terrifies. But no matter what mood Poseidon may be in, the sea always attracts, fascinates and inspires.

Color spectrum

Color is the basis of any interior. In this case, it depends on the selected topic. Combinations of blue, blue and white may be most suitable - if the emphasis is on open water. Beige or ocher on the floor will resemble a sandy beach. A white or bluish-gray ceiling will become a sky that goes beyond the horizon. Wooden panels or wall paneling will create the atmosphere of the captain’s cabin of a medieval frigate. In the children's room you can set a bed in the shape of a boat and find a place for a real pirate chest in which the child will store his treasures - toys.

Textile

A classic nautical-style decor is the use of blue and white stripes in textiles or wall designs. This color is associated with ripples in the water or with a sailor's vest. In addition, a vertical strip visually increases the height of the walls. If the main color background of the room is designed in blue, then the upholstery of upholstered furniture and bedspreads for the bed is better to choose in calm light beige, cream or sand tones. Contrasting to the general background, the pillows on the sofas, the plaid folded on the armchair, play the role of color accents. They do not allow the interior to look monotonous. A few bright spots in orange-red and yellow colors can be a hint of the underwater landscape of a coral reef.

Window decoration is one of the most delicate tasks for a designer. In a marine interior, it is important not to “heavyen” the windows with thick and dark curtains. It is better to use light, airy, light fabrics, swaying from the breeze flying into the open window. Roman curtains that look like real sails also look good.

Marine style in the design of the bathroom looks especially organic and natural. On the walls you can place one or two posters with ships or reproductions of paintings by marine painters. It will also be appropriate to hang a wall clock in the shape of a helm. On the shelves of the open buffet, plates on coasters, various designer dishes and decorative glass vessels in the shape of bottles filled with sea pebbles and shells organically look .

In any apartment or office there is sure to be a place for exclusive photo frames , elegant figurines and vases. All marine interior accessories should be combined with each other. Ideally, it is better to select items from one author’s collection, for example, “ Aquamarine ” or “ Smooth Sea ”.

A real interior decoration in a marine style will be objects that once had practical value, for example, a ship's lantern or a bell-market. Even oars, ropes and fishing nets can be used in the design of the room, but here it is very important to give them secondary importance in order to avoid the feeling of satiety from such dimensional details.

By the way, it is advisable to observe the measure in the design of any room, otherwise a clear excess of decor elements and accessories runs the risk of turning into a tasteless pile of objects. Correctly selected and correctly placed accessories add the most beautiful notes to the symphony of color and texture and make the whole interior “sound” in a new way. And being here, as if in real life you hear the splashing of a wave, the rustle of pebbles under your feet, the cries of seagulls and the rustling of palm trees in the wind.
